This year, the classifier of goat breeds replenished with three Ukrainian breeds: white, motley and short-eared. Now breeders will be able to carry out their improvement and crossbreeding with other breeds.

For 12 years, the owner of a home farm for growing goats Larisa Gurova from the Donetsk region sought a worthy assessment of Ukrainian goats. Now every goat breeder is entitled to officially register this breed group. Goats are no longer purebred. American experts crossed them with Anglo-Nubian goats and got a breed of lamancha. We did not think about this, and short-eared goats were considered domestic, says Larisa Gurova.

The farm of L. Gurova was the first to receive passports for ten Ukrainian short-eared goats. They were issued by the Animal Registration and Identification Agency.

Short-eared goats are distinguished by a special ear structure. It either does not have cartilage at all, or there is only a 5-centimeter fold. The coat of such animals is thick, dense and slightly longer than that of other breeds. Within 310 days, goats give 1.2 thousand liters of milk of 4% fat. The goat should be at launch 2 months. The first time goats of these breeds are covered after reaching 1 year of life, when they weigh 35-40 kg. Goats grow up to 60 kg.

Larisa Gurova calls these goats ideal for Ukraine. They are well adapted to the natural and weather conditions of the country, and also have strong immunity. In addition, they are easy to maintain. When you first meet them, your eyes are struck by ears that look bitten.
