The proposed breeding of thousands of pigs near the city and the administrative center of Doncaster caused a stormy reaction of neighboring residents.
A certain Mr. Sholey from Lodge Farm wanted to build a pig house and applied for permission to use the land at the back of the Abbot Alley near Burghvallis, a small village in rural South Yorkshire.
Planning agents on behalf of the complainant said that the breaded building could contain up to 1000 pigs for breeding, and young pigs would come from the breeding compartments for breeding to the final weight and slaughter. But the applicants met fierce resistance from residents who called on the planning department to abandon this.
Some local residents justified their protest with an undesirable potential increase in heavy traffic on local narrow roads and the unpleasant smell that can come from vehicles.Another part of local residents fears that their surroundings will become a place of violent activity of animal rights activists and possible protests. Over 40 people have formally objected to this project, including from nearby Squirrel Wood Scout Camping.
