WITHThe largest large rosehip plantation in Europe will appear near Odessa at the end of March this year. It spreads over an area of 90 hectares, says Pavel Tulba, director of the First Investment Cooperative Walnut of the Black Sea.
Currently, Pavel Tulba is focused on product processing and is looking for like-minded people to create a cooperative. It is planned that its participants will be engaged in growing bushes on their own lands, and the berries will be taken for processing. The idea of the farmer is to cover the risks involved in the cultivation of walnuts and ensure that processing equipment is loaded with rose hips.
The farmer is looking for partners interested in buying planting material, arrives and breaks the rosehip plantations, as they say, "turnkey". To date, 40 ha of dogrose have been sold and planted. Like-minded Pavel Tulba will independently grow bushes, and transport the crop for processing. For itself, the company "Nut of the Black Sea" planted rose hips in two sites with an area of about 80 hectares. It is planned that the planting of thorny bushes will be completed in late March or early April, the entrepreneur says. Europe grows rose hips in more modest areas. In Denmark, the shrub grows on 60 hectares, its fruits are sold in Australia. Rosehip plantations in Bulgaria are used to obtain oil from flowers.Rosehip berries in frozen form are used in the preparation of tinctures. Seeds are used for the release of oil, the skin - for pharmaceuticals, teas and as a vitamin supplement to food. On the territory of Ukraine there are many companies that prepare the Holosas medicine from rose hips. At present, rose hips in Ukraine are not an agricultural crop, which is a problem. Now the company is preparing to register its own rosehip variety in the hope of obtaining a license for its cultivation and is taking steps to recognize rosehips as a crop through Minagro, concluded Pavel Tulba.Share
