In 2018, the number of vineyards in Ukraine replenished by 527 hectares of new plantations, which is 78% more than it was in 2017, when 297 hectares of plantings appeared, experts say East-fruit.
Thus, the past year showed the highest rates in the laying of perennial crops. Including, by 21% in comparison with 2017, the area of berry growing increased by 9%. The slowdown in the laying of new plantations was observed only among pome (24%) and stone fruit (6%) crops.
The use of domestic raw materials and the high profitability of the cultivation of table grapes in the south of the country will give an impetus to the development of small winemaking, said the message of the founder of the news agency for Sapienza farmers, Ekaterina Zvereva.Ukraine is quite capable of replacing the lion's share of foreign grapes entering the market with its own product. As for Ukrainian wines, they are not only well established within the country, but are also in demand in other countries, said Yekaterina Zvereva.
Absolute leadership in the number of new plantings of grapes in 2018 belongs to the Nikolaev region. Here 35% of all new vineyards were planted, where both table and technical grape varieties are grown. About 90% of the plantations were planted in 3 regions of the country: Odessa, Nikolaev and Transcarpathia. New vineyards saw the light in the Ternopil, Kherson and Zaporizhzhya regions.
