Export feeds for animals from China may be lurking in African swine fever pathogens. Imposing this threat, the experts of phytosanitary surveillance in Russia suspended the supply of this product from China.

From now on, the import of compound feed or feed additives that come to Russia from China is temporarily limited. The only exceptions were additives obtained by chemical synthesis or created on the basis of microbiological compounds that underwent rigorous processing in the fight against the causative agent of the African swine fever virus. The end date of the temporary ban has not yet been announced.

Recall that African swine fever is a virus that attacks the immune system of both pigs from farms and wild forest boars. The causative agent is resistant to high temperatures and is able to survive and maintain its harmful properties in the bodies of dead pigs and in the ground for a long time.
