In the Altai Territory, a campaign for the harvesting of antlers has begun - local reindeer herders are cutting off unstiffened horns from sika deer and their deer breeds on the territory of livestock farms in the region.
The cutting season begins traditionally this year - in the last days of spring and the first days of summer. It is noteworthy that Altai is one of the leaders among all regions of the Russian Federation in terms of the number of individuals of deer and deer.
It is known that today, employees of twenty-four agricultural facilities in the Altai Territory are engaged in deer breeding for antlers. It will not be amiss to note that now in the region there are at least twenty-four thousand individuals of red deer and deer.
They are kept both in piedmont farms and among mountain peaks. The total number of animals allows workers of panto-harvesting farms to preserve about twelve tons of non-ossified horns per year.
It is important to add that a year earlier Altai Krai received the official status of the region in which the World Congress of Reindeer Herders is held. In 2018, guests of the event were leading experts from two dozen countries.
During the meeting, they discussed the situation in the field of reindeer husbandry, got acquainted with the technical and scientific achievements of the industry and visited Altai forwarders specializing in the maintenance and breeding of sika deer and deer.
