Based on statistics, last year the number of reindeer that were kept on Russian farms decreased significantly.
And if a year earlier the livestock numbered about one hundred and fifty-six thousand individuals, then in 2018 there were no more than one hundred and forty-six and a half thousand.
Based on disappointing statistics, the government of the Republic of Yakutia, which is considered the cradle of Russian reindeer husbandry, began to study in detail the issue and how to maintain stability and growth in the reindeer herd.
As a result, experts came to the conclusion that in the next two years, substantial reinforcement of financial support should be provided to domestic reindeer herders to improve the situation. As a result, until 2021, industry employees will receive over one billion rubles for professional needs.
Such information was shared in the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation. The department also noted that part of this amount will be implemented in the field of modernization of the technical base at reindeer herding farms. Another part of the funds will help offset the costs of developing the production of processed goods.
It is noteworthy that today ten percent of deer of the total Russian livestock and forty percent of the livestock of the Far Eastern Federal District live in Yakutia.
