Conscious plants are now strictly prohibited in Russia.
A bill to lift the ban on the cultivation of drug-containing plants has already been submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers of Russia. Officials say he will have his own raw materials for the production of medicines. Now Russia imports 100% of these raw materials from abroad, from countries where poppy cultivation is allowed.
The authors of the document determined the procedure for growing plants, as well as a list of varieties. They believe that the monopoly on cultivation should belong to the state. And also the fact that the monopoly should extend not only to the cultivation of such plants for the purposes of science, but also medicine and veterinary medicine, that is, for the production of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
The ministry initiating the project hopes that already in 2019 Russia will have its own raw materials for anesthetics containing opium. The head of the ministry, Denis Manturov, says that 200 hectares of land in southern Russia are needed for crops. This is enough to provide Russia with 80% of these raw materials. At the moment, in Russia, only one plant can synthesize drugs based on opium substances - Moscow endocrine.
