Rosrybolovstvo employees inform: in 2018, Russian fishermen, who conduct their activities in the Pacific basin, managed to increase the catch level of salmon and other fish species by as much as six percent. This information was also confirmed by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, noting that over the year it was officially possible to catch more than five million tons of fish from the Pacific Ocean.

The domestic fishing industry has not seen such indicators since 1992, when it was possible to catch more than five and a half million tons of different species of fish.

A huge merit of such indicators belongs to the Far Eastern salmon, which provided a catch of 677 thousand tons to fishermen. The lion's share of this catch went to the shelves of Russian markets and supermarkets, the minimum balance went for export.

We add that sardines and saury also show excellent results in terms of catch volumes - in 2018, fishing industry employees managed to catch more than 150 thousand tons of these breeds of fish, including mackerel and Iwashi herring. This indicator is two times higher than the figure that was recorded in 2017. Analysts and researchers in the fishing industry believe that very soon, sardines and mackerel will be fished more actively and reach the mark of one million tons per year.
