This week, Russian producers managed to significantly increase prices for melons and watermelons, EastFruit analysts said in a statement.
According to market participants, this situation has arisen due to a significant reduction in the supply of melons in the Russian market, since most of the farmers from the main regions of production of these products have actually closed the season of their sale.
According to the project, only over the past week, watermelons have become 41% more expensive, and today agricultural producers ship at a price of 3-8 rubles / kg, which is 0.05-0.12 dollars / kg. depending on the region and product quality.
During the week, the price of melons rose 1.5 times. At the moment, they are arriving at retail outlets in large quantities at a price of 12-30 rubles / kg. (0.18-0.45 dollars / kg.).
In addition, melon from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan was supplied to the Russian market in large volumes at prices of 35-45 rubles / kg, which is equivalent to 0.53-0.68 dollars / kg. depending on quality and grade.
It is noteworthy that, despite the appreciable appreciation of melons, watermelons today go on sale an average of 25% cheaper than on the same date last year. Moreover, for the melon they are now asking for practically the same amounts as at the beginning of September last year.
