At the Ladyzhinsky poultry farm in the Vinnitsa region, the construction of the first stage of a 12 MW biogas plant is nearing completion.
It is reported that a high-tech facility turns livestock and agricultural waste into clean energy and organic waste. Biogas at the Vinnitsa poultry farm is produced from chicken droppings - an anaerobic method of fermentation is used: bacteria decompose proteins, fats and carbohydrates into biogas.
The biogas complex consists of three sections, each of which has a loading unit, a hydrolysis unit and fermenters - tanks where methane is formed. The resulting gas is purified from hydrogen sulfide, drained and transported to a cogeneration plant for combustion.
This is the largest biogas plant in Europe that processes chicken droppings, said Ivan Traxler, director of MHP Eco Energy.
Chicken manure and organic waste from the processing complex go to a biogas station - 100% processing of chicken manure takes place, we use only a small amount of cattle manure as an additional enzyme, he says. - In addition, at this complex biogas can be 100% purified from hydrogen sulfide.
The uniqueness of the biogas plant also lies in the fact that for the first time in Ukraine, a gas pipeline with a length of 10 km was built to transport biogas, adds Ivan Traxler.
Investments in the first place of the complex amounted to about 25 million euros. In the future, the capacity of the biogas plant is planned to be increased to 24 MW.
