A seasoning such as basil salt will become your best friend during the preparation of certain dishes, from soups and fries to drinks and desserts.
Making salt like this is easy, and the result will exceed all your expectations!
You will need only two ingredients - fresh basil and sea salt
By the way, if you transfer the finished basil salt into beautiful glass containers, you will have in your hands an interesting, original and very useful gift for friends and relatives. Agree, a very relevant idea during the New Year fever and the search for non-trivial souvenirs.
And to prepare such a salt, you need only a couple of ingredients:
- 200 g of sea salt;
- 10 sprigs of fresh basil.
First of all, you need to choose (on the vegetable rows of the market or in your greenhouse, pot on the windowsill, etc.) the most fresh branches of basil. We will thoroughly wash them and pat them with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
Basil needs to be washed, dried and chopped
When the branches are slightly dry, cut them into small pieces together with the stems. All this you need to put in a blender bowl and fill with salt.
Grind the salt and basil at high speed until the components mix completely into a mass of bright green. On average, it will take about 4-5 minutes.
It is better to choose coarse sea salt
When you handle the blender, transfer the basil mass to a baking sheet covered with parchment. Make sure the layer is thin and even!
Top salt should be covered with paper towels and left to dry for 5-6 hours. Note that the salt must dry completely!
Make sure the salt and basil mix evenly in the blender
In the process of drying, the salt will lose its juicy green brightness, however, it will absorb all the best from basil. In particular - its unique “Mediterranean” aroma.
If you will give basil salt to friends, do not forget to warn that its shelf life is 6 months
Pour the prepared dried salt into clean glass jars and use during the preparation of various dishes.
Shelf life of such salt is six months.
